Rain or Shine: Faith in Action on the Streets of San Bernardino
The rain didn’t stop us.
When Sunday came and the weather changed, we still knew where we needed to be: out in the streets serving our brothers and sisters in San Bernardino.
At St. Joseph Collaborative, we don’t want our faith to exist only inside a church building or in the words we speak. We want our faith to have hands and feet.
Scripture tells us:
“Be doers of the word and not hearers only.” — James 1:22
That’s the mission.
Rain or Shine, We Show Up
Every Sunday, we go out to meet people where they are. We bring food, water, supplies, resources, prayer, encouragement, and—most importantly—human connection.
Rain doesn’t change the need.
Heat doesn’t change the need.
And someone’s circumstances don’t change their dignity as a child of God.
Sometimes a meal opens the door to a conversation. Sometimes somebody needs prayer. Sometimes they need help finding a resource. Sometimes they simply need another human being to stop, look them in the eyes, listen to them, and remind them that they have not been forgotten.
That’s why we keep showing up.
Building a Stronger San Bernardino Through Collaboration
The name St. Joseph Collaborative means something to us.
Collaborative.
We don’t believe one nonprofit, church, city department, or community organization can solve everything alone. We want to work alongside our city, churches, nonprofits, businesses, volunteers, neighborhoods, and community leaders.
We’ve been serving people on the streets, distributing food and water, participating in community cleanups and beautification efforts, connecting people with resources, and building relationships throughout San Bernardino.
It’s all connected.
When we care for the person on the street, we strengthen San Bernardino.
When we clean up a neighborhood, we strengthen San Bernardino.
When organizations stop working in isolation and begin sharing resources, we strengthen San Bernardino.
When ordinary people decide, “I’m going to do something,” we strengthen San Bernardino.
Come Serve With Us This Sunday
We aren’t looking for perfect people. We’re looking for willing people.
Join us this Sunday at 4:00 PM at the house as we prepare to go out and serve the children of God throughout San Bernardino.
Bring food. Bring water. Bring hygiene supplies. Bring resources. Bring another organization. Or simply bring yourself and a heart willing to serve.
There is room for you.
Our vision is simple: faith in action, collaboration in the community, and a stronger San Bernardino—one person, one relationship, and one act of love at a time.
We don’t want to merely hear the Word.
We want to DO the Word.
