Serving Our Parish Neighborhood—Faith in Action

Praise King Jesus! We serve our community and others.

On September 13, St. Joseph Collaborative began our outreach at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, our home parish. We believe serving our parish means more than attending Mass inside the church. It also means walking outside those doors, entering the surrounding neighborhood and caring for the people God places in front of us.

Brother Keanu and Lance Corporal Andrew joined the mission as we carried 40 bags of Panera Bread, more than 100 pieces of fried chicken, cold water, bananas and tangerines into the community. We went out in Jesus’ mighty name to serve people who were hungry, struggling or simply needed to know that somebody cared.

Food may open the door, but the mission is always about the person. Every person we meet is created in the image and likeness of God. They deserve dignity, compassion and the reminder that they have not been forgotten. We want to build relationships, earn trust and continue showing up—not just appear once, hand somebody something and disappear.

A special thank-you goes to Son and the ACTS team at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. After their luncheon, they had more than 100 pieces of chicken remaining. Instead of allowing that food to go to waste, they called us and blessed St. Joseph Collaborative with it. We were then able to carry that blessing into the neighborhood.

This is what Christian collaboration looks like. One ministry shares what it has, another team carries it into the streets, and together we serve Jesus through our brothers and sisters in need.
