The Water Project: Bringing Cold Water and the Love of God to the Streets
The Water Project is moving forward—let’s go!
St. Joseph Collaborative is bringing cold and frozen bottles of water directly to our brothers and sisters living on the streets of San Bernardino. During the extreme heat, something as simple as cold water can bring immediate relief and may even help save a life.
But this mission is about more than handing someone a bottle of water.
Every bottle gives us an opportunity to stop, look someone in the eyes, ask how they are doing, listen to their story, and remind them that they matter. It gives us an opportunity to offer encouragement, resources, and prayer.
Jesus tells us:
“Whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink… amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.” — Matthew 10:42
That is what the Water Project is all about: taking the Gospel to the streets through simple acts of love. We are not waiting for people to come to us. We are going directly to them with cold water, prayer, dignity, and hope.
We want to give a special thank-you to Transforming a Life nonprofit, Loretta, and Zaki Mustafa for supporting this mission. Your generosity and willingness to work together are helping us reach more people in our community.
This is what collaboration looks like. When nonprofits, volunteers, churches, families, and community members come together, we can do so much more. No single organization can meet every need, but together we can bring real relief to those who are struggling.
To some people, it may look like we are only passing out water. But to the person walking in extreme heat with nowhere to go, that frozen bottle of water means something. It says:
“We see you. We care about you. You have not been forgotten.”
We believe every person is created in the image and likeness of God. Race, religion, gender, background, addiction, homelessness, or past mistakes do not change a person’s dignity. We are called to love and serve the person standing in front of us.
Thank you to everyone donating water, freezing bottles, loading vehicles, driving the streets, serving, and praying for this mission. Every bottle matters. Every prayer matters. Every person matters.
