💧 Water, Prayer & Hope | Serving Our Community Together

On Thursday, September 3, Saint Joseph Collaborative had another opportunity to do what we believe community is all about: showing up for one another.

This time, we were blessed to serve alongside the Dream Builders Youth Foundation.

With temperatures high and many of our unhoused brothers and sisters spending their days outside with limited access to cold water, we loaded up and went into the community with a few hundred bottles of water.

On paper, it sounds simple: pass out water.

But anybody who has spent time doing street outreach knows that it's rarely just about what is inside the bag or what you're handing somebody.

A Bottle of Water Can Open a Door

We aren't trying to simply drive up, hand somebody something, and leave.

We want to see people.

We want to ask how they're doing. We want to encourage them. When they're comfortable with it, we want to pray with them. We want people to know that regardless of what they're going through, they still have dignity and value.

During extreme heat, hydration is a real need. But loneliness, discouragement, and feeling forgotten are real needs too.

That's why our outreach is about more than water.

It's about care, courage, prayer, love, and human connection.

“I Was Thirsty and You Gave Me Drink”

Matthew 25 continues to be at the heart of why we serve.

Jesus says:

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” — Matthew 25:35

Christ makes this personal.

When we encounter someone who is hungry, thirsty, struggling, or forgotten, we have an opportunity to serve Jesus Himself.

We don't have to solve every problem that day. Sometimes we simply need to be faithful with the person God places in front of us.

Collaboration Makes Us Stronger

One of the greatest blessings of this outreach was serving alongside Dream Builders Youth Foundation.

Our community doesn't need organizations competing for recognition. We need collaboration.

When nonprofits, churches, ministries, businesses, volunteers, and ordinary people bring their resources together, we can reach more people and serve them better.

We are grateful for Dream Builders Youth Foundation and everyone who helped make this outreach possible.

There is still much work ahead of us, but we're going to keep showing up—one meal, one bottle of water, one prayer, and one person at a time.

Because nobody should feel like they're out there by themselves.
